What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of exercise and physical movement that focuses on core stability, strength, balance, postural alignment, and flexibility. Through Pilates, people of all ages and abilities gain greater control over the movement of their bodies and are able to work towards their fitness or daily activity goals. Many have found relief of injuries, assistance with special conditions, and overall better health and wellness through Pilates.
Joseph Pilates invented the Pilates method and brought it to the United States in the 1920s. He first defined his method as "Contrology." He created multiple pieces of Pilates equipment, including the reformer, trapeze table, chair, and barrels as well as the mat repertoire.
Pilates is for anyone from 9 to 99 years and is great for people with various body needs. Whether your goal is to get back in shape, complement your current exercise or sports program, or ease the symptoms of a specific condition, we will help develop a program that is right for you.
